Wrinkle Reducers: The Way to Smooth Skin

Wrinkles are ridges and creases that usually begin appearing on the skin during late twenties or early thirties, i.e. when the aging process starts. Early wrinkles may be caused due to several factors, like sun damage, smoking, poor diet, and insufficient water intake. Now-a-days, this problem can be dealt with the help of the wrinkle reducing creams, gels, and sprays available in the market. These formulations come under different brands with different set of ingredients.

What are wrinkle reducers and how do they work?

Wrinkle reducers impart a smoother texture to the skin around eyes, mouth, & rest of the face and arms. There are a large numbers of products that claim efficacy by replenishing the skin by proteins, Vitamin A, and Vitamin B. Often, it is the lack of these essential nutrients that gives rise to a wrinkled skin. Proteins collagen and elastin tend to decline in the body with aging. Therefore, most products in this category work towards meeting this deficiency. Elastin and collagen along with necessary vitamins form the basis of these products that gives back the skin its lost elasticity. Often sunscreen is also added to wrinkle reducers to prevent the wrinkles from reforming due to sun damage.

Where is the caveat?

Be careful while choosing your products as the market is flooded with all types of manufacturers claiming miraculous and even, permanent effects. On the other hand, there are vendors claiming that the effectiveness of their formulations increases with time and they can effectively prevent additional wrinkles. The fact is that no wrinkle reducer can have permanent effect and in most cases, the improvement in the skin is lost when you stop using the product. Always choose certified products with proven success rate based on clinical trials.

Are there any other options?

Many other clinical treatments like Botox injections are also used in order to minimize the wrinkles. These shots prevent the tissues in the treated area from contracting and causing wrinkles. The results appear in a couple of days and last for a few months. This procedure is expensive and may have side-effects, including nausea, vomiting, headache, skin reactions, etc. In addition, there are some other surgical methods, such as facelift, that are less common due to their high costs.
